I’ve been sleeping well for the past 4 weeks. Even on Sunday nights after tango, I finish dancing at 9 in Oakland, I fall asleep by 10:30 in the Mission and sleep all the night through. I’ve had decent energy, too, consistently throughout the waking hours. Continue reading “I Am Floating”
This past weekend in the alignment class at the yoga teacher training, we practiced seeing and being seen.
We got split into buddy pairs. The first exercise was to stand in front of each other in tadasana (mountain pose) and look at each other. Then we took turns to touch each other gently around the alignment points. Then, in turns, one person, the “lookee”, stood still, another, the “looker”, was guided to observe the lookee, from all four sides, from feet up, mostly looking, with gentle feeling touch here and there. I arrived early and alone to a new event of the sort where you just sit and watch. The event was running late to start, and I sat there uncomfortably, looking around for acquaintances and/or mustering courage to talk to strangers. As I am about to take the basic yoga teacher training, I reflect on my own favorite teachers and what makes them so.
This past weekend, I went to two yoga classes, one, taught by Sean, another one, by someone else. Both were productive and enjoyable. Both teachers are thoughtful, intelligent, dedicated, and competent. Both are well spoken, kind, and handsome :-).
