Thank You Ride #10. Paradise Loop

Even though I took my “free time” writing and other composing elsewhere for a few weeks (three speeches, three homework assignments, sequencing for my yoga classes… but who’s counting), the training for AIDS LifeCycle has been happening! It’s just that I didn’t make much time for pictures or writing about it.

The thank you rides are definitely not cancelled (you can read more about the idea here)! On the President’s day, I went for a ride with my friend Laura and ended up riding 50 miles. This ride was dedicated to one of my anonymous sponsors who is a talented candid portrait photographer. The day delivered excellent views for me to photograph in honor of this generous supporter!

Thank You Ride #6: Round Trip. Lots of Green

The cycling day on Friday was dedicated to Devon. Devon was one of my first  AIDS LifeCycle sponsors, a few weeks ago when I was just starting training and fundraising. The fundraising is for the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. The training for me as I prepare to ride 545 miles from SF to LA, June 2-8, 2019 as part of AIDS LifeCycle.

One evening in December, I was totally going to ride to work the next day, but then in the morning I got up feeling maybe a little bit tired and not exactly up to it.

Thank You Ride #4: the One About Work

It’s been raining a lot in San Francisco, and it’ll continue to rain almost non-stop for a while, so one dry day on Thursday was welcome. I rode to work again, by now the usual: some 9.5 miles home to work in the morning, 3 miles to South SF BART in the afternoon as the sun sets down. Soon I will start riding both ways; soon but not yet!

Thursday’s cycling day was dedicated to Vita, not only the fourth sponsor to support my participation in AIDS LifeCycle, but also one of my biggest supporters in all my endeavors. In case you are just joining the readership, AIDS LifeCycle is a 545 mile bike ride from SF to LA that takes place June 2-8, 2019. Gratitude, Contentment, Heat

A couple of years ago, a communication coach at my desk job suggested starting a gratitude practice. I’ve heard of the concept before, and even after Kathleen the coach explained her own and her family’s gratitude practice to me, it seemed a bit out there. First of all, not like I am ungrateful or anything, am I? I know I am lucky and all that. What difference cataloguing the body parts that work and such in a journal would make?

Still, Kathleen was a truly gifted coach and a loveliest person, so even though I dismissed the idea as a suggestion to not follow, it got put aside in a not too far away corner of my brain.
