This Monday’s training ride in preparation for AIDS LifeCycle, a 545 mile bike ride from SF to LA that takes place June 2-8, 2019, is dedicated to my tango friend Mary, who generously supported not only my participation, but also that of our other tango friends! (In a previous post, I tell more about my participation in AIDS LifeCycle and the thank you rides.)
Of course today was dedicated to Mary, because the entire Team Tango (it’s a semi-official team, we tango people have occasional commitment issues) plus a couple other tango dancers went on this ride together. Mary’s support went a long way today.

The training day on Saturday a week ago is dedicated to another person I know from yoga, Dan. And I rode with Dan! How neat is this?
I first met Dan at a yoga retreat. Or, to be precise, I first met Dan in front of the Cancun airport. There is a story that goes with that, but that’s not this story, so moving on 🙂

The cycling day on Friday was dedicated to Devon. Devon was one of my first AIDS LifeCycle sponsors, a few weeks ago when I was just starting training and fundraising. The fundraising is for the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. The training for me as I prepare to ride 545 miles from SF to LA, June 2-8, 2019 as part of AIDS LifeCycle.
One evening in December, I was totally going to ride to work the next day, but then in the morning I got up feeling maybe a little bit tired and not exactly up to it.

On Friday, I had a class to attend in the afternoon, so I took half a day off work and thought I might even ride to South San Francisco and back in the morning, since the sun would be up. I ended doing the “usual”, riding there all the way, riding back a small part of the way. Plus some 5 miles going to the studio and back in the afternoon, making it about 17.5 miles total for the day. This cycling day was dedicated to Kent, my friend from group of people with whom I sometimes plant trees in Oakland.

It’s been raining a lot in San Francisco, and it’ll continue to rain almost non-stop for a while, so one dry day on Thursday was welcome. I rode to work again, by now the usual: some 9.5 miles home to work in the morning, 3 miles to South SF BART in the afternoon as the sun sets down. Soon I will start riding both ways; soon but not yet!
Thursday’s cycling day was dedicated to Vita, not only the fourth sponsor to support my participation in AIDS LifeCycle, but also one of my biggest supporters in all my endeavors. In case you are just joining the readership, AIDS LifeCycle is a 545 mile bike ride from SF to LA that takes place June 2-8, 2019. In a previous post, I tell more about this endeavor and the thank you rides.
